The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is a support hub for Lawrence Tech students and faculty. LTU students come to the AAC to get help with homework or test preparation, compare notes, meet with study groups, or seek that spark of needed motivation. For many, the AAC is simply a friendly place to be with others. The AAC also offers instructional handouts to take home and miscellaneous learning aids to use at the AAC, including software, reference materials and videos.

AAC services are FREE and ONLY available to Lawrence Tech students, staff and faculty. The AAC is located on the lowest level of the A. Alfred Taubman Student Services Center in C201.

The AAC now has a FAQ page. Come check it out here and email us if you have any unanswered questions.

Services Provided Include:

Tutoring in person and online, is available for key courses in architecture and design, chemistry, computer science, engineering, ESL conversation, mathematics, physics, and writing. Tutors include LTU faculty members and exemplary students who are available during day and evening hours. The master tutor schedule is available online and in the AAC.

AAC Online Tutoring
This service is available to students that have a question or need help with a concept but cannot stop by the AAC. Complete the AAC Ask Online form to request online tutoring. A tutor will contact you within 24 hours (48 hours on weekends).

Testing Services (proctored testing) are offered for LTU students who are unable to complete exams/quizzes during regularly scheduled class time. To use this service, students should contact the AAC at least 48 hours in advance for an appointment time and a Testing Service Request form (to be completed by the instructor). We make every effort to accommodate student schedules.

Study Tables are designed to help student-athletes and LTU Scholars succeed in their courses. Study tables are offered during the week and on weekends and are monitored by AAC staff.

Self-Directed Study Groups help students take control of their study time to prepare for classes and exams. After initial training and facilitation by AAC staff, students direct the study group meetings by themselves. We provide space for meetings in the AAC, and tips on group communication and conflict negotiation.

Academic Skills Workshops help students learn basic skills such as listening, note taking, test taking, effective reading of textbooks and literature, research, and time/stress management. Speakers are also available to present overviews of AAC services and full workshops to campus groups. Individual study habit consultations can help students analyze their own study patterns and learn where and how to improve.

Pre-courses are refreshers taken before students take an important math, structures, chemistry, accounting, English or engineering class. During these free workshops, students review basic concepts, material they will see in class, and learn strategies for approaching problems in these classes.
